Updating a existing PDF file on the website.
Both the Calendar and the Bulletin are created as PDF files. We use a WordPress plugin called EmbedPres to display PDF files on our website. The following steps can be used to update the Calendar or the Bulletin.
Preliminaries:
- Register and obtain permission to modify the website. See the Register section in the Website Support page.
Here are the steps to update an existing PDF on our website:
- Log into the website using the login link: https://ebenezerwelcome.com/wp-login.php
- Enter the Dashboard (if you are not already there) by clicking on the WordPress icon in the upper left corner. (Note: the dashboard will have several maintenance options running down the left hand side of the screen)
- Add the PDF file to your media library and copy the link to it.
- Mouse over the “Media” menu option on the left hand side of the screen
- Slide the mouse over and click on the “Add New Media File” menu item.
- Click on the “Select File” in the middle of the screen. Navigate to the New PDF and click on it.
- Click on the “Copy URL to clipboard” button near the bottom of the screen.
- Create a “Shortcode” in “EmbedPress” and copy the “Shortcode” to the “clipboard”.
- Click on the “EmbedPress” menu item on the left hand side of the screen.
- Click on the “[/] Shortcode” button item directly under the highlighted “General” Button.
- Click in the text box to the left of the “Generate” button and press Control+V to paste the saved URL in the text box. Then click on the “Generate” button.
- Finally click on the “Copy Link” to save the Shortcode in the clipboard.
- Navigate to the Sermons Page. Click on the “Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church” link in the upper left corner of the page until you see the website “Home” page. Then navigate to the Web Page containing the PDF.
- Open Beaver Builder. Click on Beaver Builder near the center of the top bar to open the Beaver Builder page editor.
- Replace the old short code with the new one. Click on the PDF file in the Page. A text dialog box should pop up. Click on the text in dialog box. Press Control+a to select all. Then Press Control+v to paste the new shortcode into the dialog box and press the “Save” button on the bottom right corner of the text dialog box to save the new code.
- Publish your changes. Click on the Done button in the upper right hand corner. If you are happy with the changes click Publish. If you would like to make more changes hit Cancel. You can also save it as a draft and work more on it later. Or if it is really messed up, you can Discard it.
